Just three days ahead of the Republic Day celebration, a 10-year-old was injured when a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in the wee hours of Thursday at RIMS Road in Imphal.
According to media reports, the girl suffered a minor head injury from a broken glass splattered from the blast.
The incident happened days after troops of Assam Rifles along with the state’s security forces apprehended two underground cadres of the United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) from Imphal.
Eastern Command of Assam Rifles handed over the apprehended underground cadres to Manipur police for further investigation.
“Troops of #AssamRifles in an #Op with Police apprehended 2 Underground (UG) cadres of United Tribal Liberation Army from Imphal, Manipur on 19 Jan. The apprehended has been handed over to the police for further investigations,” Eastern Command said in a tweet.
