Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Tuesday said the government will do everything possible to bring a self-sustained and easy livelihood to the people of the state.
“Easy living of the people in a society is a sign of good governance and our Government will do everything possible to bring a self-sustained and easy livelihood to our people of the State,” Mr. Biren said, addressing the 49th Statehood Day event held at 1st Manipur Rifles Battalion ground in Imphal.
Maintaining that the BJP government will always protect secularism in the state, Mr. Biren said the PM Modi-led BJP government at the Centre and in the state will always preserve and protect the cultural identity of the state and secularism will always be protected.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had greeted the people of Manipur, as the state celebrates Statehood Day.
Manipur became a full-fledged state under the North Eastern Region (Reorganisation) Act, 1971, on this day in 1972.
“On Manipur’s Statehood Day, my greetings to the people of the wonderful state. Manipur is known for its vibrant culture. People from Manipur have made a mark in various fields. May the state keep progressing in the years ahead,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
