Bushan Haobam beats Vilasier Khate of Nagaland to lift the trophy of the first Heisnam Basantakumar Singh Memorial IDTA Invitation Open Tennis Tournament held at Imphal District Tennis Association (IDTA) Complex, Lamphelpat, Imphal.
The final match of Men’s single was played between Bushan Haobam of Manipur and Vilasier Khate of Nagaland which was followed by Prize distribution cum Closing ceremony of the tournament on Tuesday. The prizes carry Trophies and a cash of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 for winners and runners up respectively.
Speaking at the closing ceremony as Chief Guest, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Shri R.K. Ranjan lauded the players and appealed the organizer to make more popular the tournament in the future. Shri Ranjan further said that though the tennis court of IDTA is considered being the best court, it needs to improve in order to promote tennis in Manipur.
The closing function was also graced by President, Imphal District Tennis Association Shri Keisham Ramkumar Singh as President while Commissioner (MAHUD/Art & Culture/.IRP) Shri Mongjam Joy Singh, IAS, Director (IPR) Shri Heisnam Balkrisna Singh, MCS, SP (Vigilance) Shri Heisnam Balram Singh, MPS and Smt. Heisnam (O) Sanatombi Devi attended as Guests of honor.
Altogether 131 players participated in the tournament in different categories. It may be mentioned that the first Heisnam Basantakumar Singh Memorial IDTA Invitation Open Tennis Tournament was inaugurated on January 17, 2020.
