Assam Rifles jawan accused of molesting IPS officer

In a shocking incident, a woman IPS officer on duty was allegedly assaulted and molested by a jawan of Assam Rifles (AR) at a check post near Moreh, a border town of India in Tengnoupal district, on Sunday.

According to a report in Sangai Express, the IPS official has lodged an FIR against the jawan, PK Panday, at Tengnoupal Police Station. 

Speaking to media persons, DGP LM Khaute said the State police have got in touch with Assam Rifles’ authority and will follow the necessary legal procedures.

The IPS Association, Manipur Chapter has also strongly condemned the harassment and misbehavior of the Assam Rifles Rifleman against a lady IPS officer.

In a statement, the IPS Association said that it expects the Assam Rifles to cooperate with the police investigation and ensure speedy action in their internal disciplinary proceedings.

In the complaint filed by the IPS officer, she claimed that after her regular duty at Moreh, she was returning along with her escort party in her official vehicle and on reaching Khudengthabi 12 AR D-Company check post, one of her escort personnel tried to inform the frisking party of 12th AR and register their entry.
